Atheist Prof Gets Shit

On a personal level, religiosity is merely annoying—like bad taste. This immaturity represents a significant social problem, however, because religious adherents fail to recognize their limitations. So, in the name of their faith, these moral retards are running around pointing fingers and doing real harm to others. One only has to read the newspaper to see the results of their handiwork. They discriminate, exclude and belittle. They make a virtue of closed-mindedness and virulent ignorance. They are an ugly, violent lot.American Christians like to think that religious violence is a problem only for other faiths. In the heart of every Christian, though, is a tiny voice preaching self-righteousness, paranoia and hatred. Christians claim that theirs is a faith based on love, but they’ll just as soon kill you. For your own good, of course. Those who believe that they are acting out the divine plan are the most dangerous sort in the contemporary world. Make no mistake.
So, like, what’s the problem?

Those two paragraphs you quoted make perfect sense to me. Funny how the religious
have no problem telling us that we are amoral and going to hell, but if we point
out how wrong they are, we are the bigots.

Although I’m not Christian technically, I’m a religon called Christian Science. Although I totally agree with you about Christian Americans, I had a tough time hearing you say that all Christians will tell you that you will go to hell and that you are wrong. I believe that if someone was a TRUE Christian they would not be even able to see the “evil” in people. Where in the Bible does Jesus say that if you don’t believe him you will go to a firery pit for all eternity? Hell is a state of mind that I believe comes when one is seeing others as “evil” or “wrong” or just to hate others in general. I believe that those who claim tht they are Christian and then turn around and hate anyone (including any terrorist, thank you very much Mr. Bush) then they are placing themselves in their own little hell that leads to aweful things like wars and killing people because they don’t believe what they believe. Please understand that those people who claim they are “Christians” that you speak of are not “fighting the good fight.”

I apologize if any of you have ever been wronged by a self rightous person who claims to be christian. But by your comment,

is not only as impossible to prove as the scientific existenec of God, but has also placed you on the same level as those you speak negatively about. I find it odd that most Atheist I’ve talked to have almost a strange Dogma about what they believe, as if Atheism were a religion. It seems to me that rather than spend so much time and energy preaching against Christians, it might do you well to help with a charity feeding the homeless or visiting the elderly.
But who am I to talk. I am not even worthy to live. Thanks for the time.

I’m 65 yrs old and have been a comfortable and “selectivly” open athiest since age 14. I’m always ashamed for non-believers who rant and rave about all the hypocracy inherant in religeon in general.
